Wall Street / Wall Street
The main movie about traders in the history of cinema. A story about what insider trading and the thirst for big money lead to. The role that made Charlie Sheen famous.
The film's main character, Gordon Gekko, became a role model for thousands of successful managers who came to Wall Street inspired by this movie.
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps / Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
An extremely weak sequel to the famous film. Loud advertising, the same director, but.... This is a story about the relationship between a father and his daughter, and how people change little over the years. We all remain who we really are. I recommend viewing only to very die-hard fans of the first part.
Limitless / Limitless
Who among us has not dreamed of developing some kind of superpower, for example, becoming extremely smart? Bradley Cooper's character in the film "Areas of Darkness" managed to do this with the help of pills a secret drug called NZT. In a short time, he becomes practically a super-man, makes a fortune on the stock exchange, and is close to enormous success... But the pills also have side effects.
A very good, motivating film with an unexpected ending.
An attempt to show the ordinary layman how the last financial crisis began. Those who understand financial markets will smile at most of the dialogue, while those who do not understand them will find the film far too boring. I think that if not for the brilliant cast, no one would have watched this movie at all.
Wall Street Warriors / Wall Street Warriors
A documentary series about those who work on that very famous street: traders, lawyers, fund managers, sales agents, and so on. Perhaps the most useful item on our list of movies about traders. The series was filmed for ordinary viewers, so everything is shown very superficially. But to catch even a glimpse of real traders moving millions of dollars is very interesting, educational, and quite motivating.
Wall Street Warriors
A documentary series about those who work on that famous street: traders, lawyers, fund managers, sales agents, etc. Perhaps the most useful object from our list of films about traders. The series was filmed for ordinary viewers, so everything is shown very superficially. But to look at least out of the corner of your eye at real traders moving millions of dollars is very interesting, informative and quite motivating.
A young guy gets a job as a broker (essentially a sales agent) at an unknown firm that is engaged in pushing shares of fly-by-night companies onto people. A very interesting movie, worth watching. Although I was involved in "aggressive marketing" for more than a year, sales over the phone, and especially for large amounts.... For me, that is something out of the realm of fantasy. And yet such salespeople really do exist. Very strong people.
The real story of a trader Nick Leeson, who bankrupted Britain's oldest bank "Barings". The arrogance and stupidity of the main character’s actions involuntarily evoke admiration; you watch what is happening on the screen without stopping, deeply empathizing with Nick. Great movie.
Main lesson - DO NOT TRY TO FIGHT THE MARKET and do not try to “win back”. You can only follow the trend, but in no case resist it by holding unprofitable positions.
The film is based on real events from the life of Chris Gardner, a single father forced to live on the street, who went through every hardship and adversity before later opening his own brokerage firm and earning millions of dollars. This is a very, very powerful movie. Even now, several years after watching it, remembering it brings tears to my eyes.I recommend this picture for viewing to EVERYONE, regardless of age, gender, religion, and so on. This movie is capable of changing your life.
The Wolf of Wall Street
The story of one very controversial trader, Jordan Belfort, who saw much on his path: mountains of money, drugs, promiscuous relationships, fear, despair, happiness. After the bank where Jordan worked closes, he and his neighbor decide to open their own firm "Stratton Oakmont." In essence, the film is about how a young guy created an empire from a small firm thanks to his own ingenuity, cunning, and willpower. It is worth watching at least because of the unconventional plot and the brilliant work of the film's editors.
Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell, and Christian Bale star in a film based on Michael Lewis's bestseller "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine" about American financiers who managed to foresee the 2007–2008 crisis and profit from it.
The movie is very cool, and the acting is magnificent. With humor and biting irony, they explain to us "in simple terms" why the 2008 crisis arose and how the pyramid of mortgage debt, on which everyone who could be bothered profited, collapsed.
Boiler Room
Among the drawbacks, it is worth noting the abundance of professional vocabulary, because of which the picture may prove difficult to understand for those who are "not in the know."
The Pursuit of Happyness
What is noteworthy is that Jérôme Kerviel was in fact a very good trader; during his career he brought the bank several billion in profit. But excessive self-confidence ruined him. Never let even a long series of successes cloud your mind.
Billions is a dramatic series about the confrontation between an ambitious billionaire hedge fund manager and a principled federal prosecutor.
The Wolf of Wall Street
The series reveals the backstage of Wall Street, showing a world of big money, complex deals, and moral compromises.
The Big Short

Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell and Christian Bale in the film based on the best-selling book by Michael Lewis “The Big Short: The Secret Springs of Financial Disaster” about American financiers who managed to foresee the crisis of 2007–2008 and make money on it.
The film is very cool, the acting is great. With humor and evil irony, they explain to us what caused the 2008 crisis and how the pyramid of mortgage debts collapsed, from which everyone and all sorts of people were profiting.
Among the lessons useful for a trader, it is worth noting a clear demonstration of the fact thatfundamental analysiscan work with a VERY long delay, which can destroy your deposit if you make a mistake with the time factor.
Among the minuses, it is worth noting the abundance of professional vocabulary, which is why the picture may be difficult to understand for those who are “not in the know.”
The Outsider / L'outsider

A dramatic story about the behind-the-scenes trading inside one of the largest banks in the world - Société Générale. The film is based on real events and tells the story of the rise and fall of trader Jerome Kerviel, who at the height of the 2008 crisis brought a loss to the bank of about 5 billion euros.
The picture will be of interest primarily to traders and those whose occupation is associated with the world of finance.
The film is interesting, very similar to “The Con Man” with Ewan McGregor, mentioned above.
As you might guess, history repeats itself and the mistakes of the past are rarely taught to the new generation.
What is noteworthy is that Jerome Kerviel was a very good trader; during his career he brought the bank several billion in profit. But excessive self-confidence ruined him. Never let even a long string of successes cloud your judgment.

Billionsis a drama series about the confrontation between an ambitious billionaire hedge fund manager and a principled federal prosecutor.
