Historical quotes: why you need them and how to download

The TLAP historical quotes page is a working tool that lets you download free price history for Forex, crypto, indices, metals and stocks in a format ready to import into your trading terminal. Instead of hunting for data and converting it by hand, a trader gets a ready file in a couple of clicks.

The main value is the combination of formats and tools. For example, the .ctf file for Forex Simulator (Soft4FX) goes straight into the simulator data folder, while CSV for MetaTrader 4 imports via History Center (F2) and is immediately available for backtesting expert advisors. MT4, MT5, NinjaTrader 8, universal CSV and JSON are supported.

How to use

  1. Pick a market (Forex, crypto, indices, metals and commodities, stocks).
  2. Choose a symbol and a period — a preset (from a month to full history) or custom dates.
  3. Select a timeframe: from minute (M5) to monthly (MN1).
  4. Pick the file format for your software and press “Download”.

Works best together with other TLAP tools

Downloaded quotes are especially useful together with the strategy tester, the economic calendar, currency pair correlation and the volatility indicator. When several independent tools confirm each other, a trading decision becomes more robust.

Any historical statistics describe past conditions and do not guarantee future results. Markets can change abruptly on news, thin liquidity, spread widening or technical failures. Verify the downloaded data on a demo account before using it in live trading.
