Pip Value Calculator: Calculate Forex Pip Value | TLAP
Pip value per 1 standard lot for popular instruments
For pairs quoted in US dollars the pip value is fixed; for the rest it depends on the current rate and is recalculated. The table shows indicative values; the calculator above gives the exact figure for your trade.

Forex Pip Value Calculator: Accurate Calculation of Price Movement
The pip value calculator helps estimate how much a one-pip move is worth for the selected currency pair, trade size and account currency. It is a core risk-control calculation before placing a trade.
The pip
value calculator helps you quickly determine how much a 1-pip price movement
will cost for a selected currency pair, trade size, and account currency. This
is a basic calculation for assessing risk, stop-loss levels, and potential
profit before opening a position.
Risk
management starts with understanding the monetary value of a single pip.
Without this figure, it is impossible to determine the correct position size,
and even a correct forecast of the direction can result in a loss due to an
incorrect volume. The pip value calculator automates this calculation, taking
into account the currency pair type, deposit currency, and the risk parameters
set by the trader.
How Forex pip value is calculated
For classic
Forex pairs, the calculation depends on the lot size, the instrument’s quote,
the deposit currency, and which currency is the second in the pair. For EURUSD,
the result is usually calculated directly in dollars, while for USDJPY and
cross pairs, conversion via the current exchange rate is required.
- EURUSD: It is convenient to calculate the pip value using the lot size and a price increment of 0.0001. For example, with a 0.1 lot, 1 pip will always be worth $1
- USDJPY: The price increment is usually 0.01, so the result is converted using the pair’s current price.
- XAUUSD: The calculation depends on the contract specifications and the size of the gold position.
What data does the trader enter?
To
calculate the pip value, you must fill in 4 fields.
- Number of pips. In this field, enter the number of pips you are interested in. To calculate the pip value, enter “1”; to calculate profit/loss, enter the number of pips you’re interested in. You can select pips in pairs where there are 5 decimal places (e.g., EURUSD). To do this, enter a decimal point followed by the number of decimal places (e.g., 1.5)
- Currency Pair. Choose from major, cross, and exotic currency pairs. This determines the tick size (0.0001 for most pairs, 0.01 for JPY pairs) and whether conversion is required. You can also select instruments such as silver (XAGUSD) and gold (XAUUSD).
- Trade Volume (Lots) . This field allows you to determine the cost per pip based on the trade volume. The default value is in lots, but you can also enter values for mini and micro lots in tenths and hundredths (e.g., 1.2 or 0.05 lots).
- Deposit currency. You can choose from the following deposit currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, USDT, BTC)
Result. The cost per pip based on the
entered data.
Additionally,
for your convenience, the current exchange rates for major currencies and
metals are displayed on the right.
Connection to risk management
The direct dependence of the cost per pip on the lot size means that any increase in position
size proportionally increases both potential profit and risk. The calculator
clearly demonstrates this relationship.
If a trader
prefers tight stops (scalping), they can afford a larger position size for the
same risk percentage. With wide stops (swing trading), the position size must
be reduced.

Cryptocurrency pairs are calculated separately
For BTCUSD, ETHUSD, and BTCUSDT, the price tick, contract size, and broker or exchange specifications are important, so a separate page has been created for the crypto market: Pip Value Calculator for Cryptocurrencies.
