How it happened

It all began when Alfred Ebner, the author of the CADtrader expert advisor, found an old dusty book in the attic as a little boy. The book was so old and dusty that when he blew the dust off it, the cover and the first few pages crumbled to dust along with it. But that did not stop little Alfred from reading it. The book was called "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator".

From that moment on, Alfred decided to become a trader. Years passed, and the world entered the era of computers and the internet. And then one day, already grown up, Alfred heard about Forex and immediately remembered his old dream. But since he was very lazy and did not want to sit at the computer for hours, he decided to make a magic robot that would do all the dirty work for him.

When creating the robot, the hardest thing for Alfred was deciding "Where and how should Stop Orders be placed?" Stops can be placed at support levels, Fibonacci lines, or simply at a certain distance from the entry point. But he did not like any of these approaches....

And then, on one of his sleepless nights, inspiration descended upon Alfred. "The best point for placing a Stop Order is the Margin Call level!" That was how the "brilliant" concept of sitting through price movements was born in his head.

"After all, as long as the position is not closed, there is no loss!!!" thought naive Alfie, uplifted by his idea. Next he had to choose a calmer currency pair. Remembering his grandmother from Canada, who sent him greetings in her will (without leaving him a single cent), Alf did not think long before choosing USDCAD.

Several weeks were spent creating the finished version of the expert advisor now known to us as CADtrader. But now the work is complete, and Alfred conducts backtests of the expert advisor:

Looking at the test results, Alfred immediately suspected that "Something is wrong here." He could not understand why, but the 0 mark on the balance growth chart bothered him very much. Surely it was that very trader's intuition people talk so much about. It was clear that using the expert advisor himself was not worth it.

In despair, Alfie wandered from pub to pub, drowning his sorrow in single malt whisky and the company of loose women. It was precisely then, while inhaling hashish smoke, that he decided not to trade the expert advisor himself, but to sell it to gullible users on the internet.

He made the website http://www.cad-trader.com, uploaded a more or less nice-looking backtest there (there was no need for buyers to see the others), and wrote a laudatory text about super profits. Alf had also heard that people liked monitoring pages. He did not dare open a real account ("What if the expert advisor does not last even a month? Why should I lose my own money? Let the buyers do that!"), and so he made a monitoring page for a demo account ("These suckers still will not see the difference..."):

The picture turned out nice, and sales of the expert advisor went up. Fortune finally smiled on Alfred.

But how much time will pass before the balance curve on the demo account reaches the key mark of 0? Who knows...
